Setting Up Private Nameservers

You  may want to setup private nameservers for your reseller account. This looks better for your business and lends credibility, you can do this and still use our High Availability DNS cluster. This article is if you have registered your domain somewhere other than kickassd, if you registered your domain with us than this guide does not apply to you.

Setting up private nameservers in the fashion outlined in this guide does not give you your own DNS servers in any way, it simply means you create the appropriate records at your registrar that ns1.yourdomain.com, ns2.yourdomain.com, ns3.yourdomain.com point to and use our DNS servers. This way when your customers check DNS records your domain is shown instead of ours, as well if you are asked to provide your nameservers you can supply nameservers using your own domain.

Register Your Nameservers At Your Registrar

Depending on your Registrar you may be able to register your nameservers yourself or you may need to ask them to do this for you. Commonly the option to register your own nameservers is called, "Private Nameservers", "Host Records", or "Child Nameservers". Once you have registered the nameservers don't forget to create the corresponding A-Records to point to our nameserver IPs. You can find information on our Nameservers at Kickassd Nameservers.

It can take up to 24 hours for these changes to take effect. If you need some help getting this setup, don't hesitate to contact our fanatical support so we can help you out.
